What is Nail Fungus & Why Laser?
Nail fungus is a fungal infection of the nail bed and/or underside of the nail (subungual), often causing discoloration, thickening, brittleness, sometimes odor or discomfort.
Traditional treatments include topical antifungals (creams, lacquers), oral antifungals (pills), sometimes removing part or all of the nail. These have limitations: penetration (topicals), side effects (orals), long treatment durations.
Laser offers a non-invasive option. The idea: use laser/light energy to heat/disrupt or kill fungal organisms (and their spores), penetrate through the nail plate to reach the fungus underneath, possibly reduce recurrence, ideally with fewer systemic side effects
